We are already halfway through the first month of the year. Next month, we're going to have birthdays to celebrate and the following month will be our trip to DisneyWorld (and Brady's birthday early in the month.) We are waiting for our insurance company to approve the manual wheelchair for Jojo. We were told that usually when a child already had a power wheelchair the insurance company would not pay for a manual wheelchair. So, we'll see and we'll pray about it.
The hunting season is winding down (Thank you God!) The football season is wrapping up. I bet tomorrow, most of Louisiana will watch the Saints play. Jojo never liked football, but tonight he said he liked it now and that he would watch the games from now on; that made his Daddy glad.
The "American Idol" started this week. And it surprised us to find out that Jojo likes it now because of Ellen Degeneres. He was disappointed that Ellen was not on the show this week. Here he is being a "judge" for the show. I don't think he will replace Simon anytime soon.

During the day, Jojo keeps himself busy playing on the computer, and not much else. He does not even watch his regular shows on TV. As soon as he gets out of bed and situated in the living room, he is glued to the computer. By the end of the day, his one hand or the other can hardly hold on to the clicker or the joystick.

And on a sad note, (as I was waiting for the photos to upload I was going back and forth from here to Facebook and SMAspace) from the time I started this entry to just now, another SMA mom wrote on SMAspace about the death of her 6-month old baby this morning. And on Facebook, from the time I posted our plea for Brady's friends to vote for Gwendolyn Strong Foundation tonight until now, only two friends have voted. Very sad. And come to think of it, this whole week of watching the news about Haiti, not one mentioned anything about it on Facebook. Very sad, indeed.

  1. wow Jojo lots of time on the computer, loved hearing you be the judge for American idol.

Maria we voted, that is such an awesome opportunity, I hope they win and the funds can help cure SMA.

  2. Maria, to most of the SMA community, the disappointment will be if we don't win the $1,000,000. I will also be very sad at the lack of response of a couple of my "friends." Such a little thing to ask; and yet some people apparently just can't make the time.
I guess I just need to focus on those who did come through. For instance, a former parent (I'm a teacher) sent a mass email to all the parents in my school asking them to vote.

Here's hoping Jojo continues to be healthy. I'm jealous that he uses the computer; Drew has virtually no interest other than watching YouTube videos:)
