Hello! This is Joseph. I'm doing really good, but my Mommy just hasn't had time to update my blog. In the meantime, I want to share my avatar, courtesy of Poptropica Avatar Studio. Until next time...
Joseph, Does someone help you when you play Poptropica? Drew and Ryan seem to need help when they play. I'm not good at games so we never get very far! I don't think they even know about having an avatar. I showed yours to Drew and he thought it was really neat!
BArb, Joseph pretty much navigates Poptropica on his own. He has learned a lot of things by himself and even found the youtube videos made by other Poptropica gamers that show you the tricks of the game. Thank God for the computer, the Internet and assistive technology. Joseph may not be able to play the regular games and sports but he's very good with the computer. HIs eye-hand coordination is really good. He only needs help when the games call for the use of up/down/right/left keys or when certain attack moves require the use of the keyboard. I have no doubt at all that Drew will be a master of the Internet games given the time.
This is a snap shot of our life with Spinal Muscular Atrophy. After we found out that our son Joseph (Jojo) had SMA, we grieved. We grieved for all the motor milestones that he would never meet, and for the life that we dreamed and visualized for him. It is tragic to see our child not being able to move much, and then to watch as he progressively loses even those minimal movements and skills that he was born with. But we learn to adjust and keep the focus away from our grief. Because really, he is not fundamentally different from kids his own age: he learns stuff, he knows what he wants, he rationalizes, he whines and occasionally throws a tantrum, and he knows how to wrap his Mom and especially his Dad around his little finger.
Hi Joseph, glad to hear you are doing good. Very cool avatar.
