The Serenity Prayer

Joseph lit a candle tonight in unity with other SMA families.
And in memory of Pranav.

While I was getting him ready for bed, he caught me off guard with a question: "What kind of SMA do I have?"  And so I tried to explain the differences between Types 1, 2 and 3.  He decided that he is a Type 1 1/2.  August being SMA Awareness Month,  I guess Joseph just gained more knowledge about SMA.  Maybe it's time that I teach him the Serenity Prayer.

SERENITY PRAYER
God, grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.

(Although known most widely in its abbreviated form above,
the entire prayer reads as follows...)

Living one day at a time;
Enjoying one moment at a time;
Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
Taking, as He did, this sinful world
as it is, not as I would have it;
Trusting that He will make all things right
if I surrender to His Will;
That I may be reasonably happy in this life
and supremely happy with Him
Forever in the next.
Amen.
