We just returned from a very short vacation in Texas. We left for Grapevine, Texas on Thursday and drove for more than 7 hours, an hour longer because of multiple stops along the way.
 |
We were excited to get on the road.
Joseph "snacked" during the drive,
so there was a lot of suctioning going on. |
When we got to the Great Wolf Lodge, we barely had time to freshen up before going to the Medieval Times Dinner and Tournament. The place was not very busy because of the day of the week, which suited us just fine.

 |
| Everybody had to wear a crown! |
The show was a neat experience. The fights were choreographed, of course. Our knight, the Black and White Knight, won the tournament. We were served food and were supposed to eat them without utensils in keeping with the Medieval experience. Of course, we brought a strainer and a spoon so that Joseph could taste the soup. Our waiter was very attentive and addressed us as "my Lady" and "my Lord." It was after 10 PM when we got back to the lodge. Joseph still wanted to shower, so we went to bed very late.
The following morning, we missed the Wolf Walk at 9 AM, but we were able to see the Great Clock Tower Show. Then, we set off to find a Filipino restaurant. It took us 35 minutes to get to the town where there was one. It was worth it, though. Brady and I were stuffed. Joseph tasted everything.

Finally, once back in the lodge, we went to the water park. Joseph and his Dad went through the water fountains and sprinklers first, while I was on suction duty.

Blurry :(
Joseph looks so grown up! |
Joseph tired of them quickly, so we went to the pool area where he had a better time.
 |
Joseph did not want to use the head float thingy,
so Daddy was his flotation device. |
 |
Joseph's very own all-terrain wheelchair.
It's actually his manual wheelchair. |
 |
| See how useful the manual wheelchair was? |
We went back to the room to shower and eat. Then, Joseph had some spare, precious, time to play on his computer. Before we knew it, it was time for Story Time in the lobby at 8 PM.

| Night-time Story Time |
 |
| After the Story Time, Joseph wanted to play in the arcade. |
 |
| His Daddy happily obliged. |
After the arcade, it was time for some snacks. Notice how eating was such a big part of our vacation?
And then, it was bedtime. Joseph loved sleeping on the bunk bed. He'd never slept on one, so he insisted on sleeping on the bottom bed. I slept on the top bunk. Brady had the bed all to himself. We all slept good during those two nights. Joseph never asked to be turned until it was time to wake up.

| Then it was Goodbye Time. |
We made better time going home. Joseph said we would go back to the Great Wolf Lodge soon! Of course, he said that about Disney World, too, and it has been three long years since we were there. Brady and I think that our next trip will be a local one, perhaps to Avery Island where they make Tabasco sauce. Joseph has been fascinated with spicy food lately so that should be fun.
