Catch-up Update

No news from our homefront is usually good news. Jojo is keeping himself busy playing on the computer or watching Noggin. He started school last week, but only his special ed teacher came. Everyone else will start easing into his schedule in the coming weeks. It's a bit frustrating that we haven't heard anything about the communication device or the on-screen keyboard for which Jojo was evaluated for almost six months ago. Hopefully, with the start of the school year, the ball will start rolling faster on these things.
SMA-wise, we share every one's concern (fear?) about the swine flu, etc. It's only August and people are already getting sick because of sinus allergies/infection, RSV!, and even the swine flu (there were cases reported about an hour or two away from us). We're definitely getting the regular flu shots; Jojo's pediatrician's office will start giving the shots on September 1st. We're not so sure about the swine flu vaccine if only because of its questionable safety. We're praying for guidance.
Other than that, we are just enjoying our Jojo, even his being too chatty at times so close to bedtime, or when we are on the phone, or when grown-ups are trying to have a conversation :0)

Glorious Thursday

It's a glorious day, because it's the end of my work week and I don't have to go out in this heat unless I want to. Our weather man showed the high temps in the country today, and our area - north and central Louisiana got everybody beat at 107 degrees! But somehow, yesterday at 101 degrees was a lot hotter and more suffocating than today. It must be the humidity.

Solution to the heat? $9 slip 'n slide from Wal-mart!

After Jojo got bathed/dressed, it was time to say Good Night to Daddy's new flower bed.
And because it's Thursday, Jojo gets to sleep with Mommy in the big bed.

I just read on the SMASpace that a SMA child had the swine flu. I was not very concerned about the swine flu affecting us before, but reading about a child like Jojo being afflicted with it just brought the matter closer to home. We're praying for a quick recovery for the little girl, and that nobody else gets it.
