Jojo had a good weekend. On Saturday, he let me finish the wreaths for our doors while he watched TV/played on his computer. That evening, he told me that he would be a pop star when he grew up then he would go to Hollywood! Okay. So during the past year, Jojo had wanted to be a doctor, then a veterinarian, then a secret agent, then an astronaut, and now a pop star. That reminded me of an old song I used to sing when I was a lot younger. I don't know who sang it originally.
"When I was just a little girl,
I asked my mother what will I be?
Will I be pretty? Will I be rich?
Here's what she said to me.
Que sera, sera.
Whatever will be, will be.
The future's not ours to see.
Que sera, sera."
I guess that's pretty much how it goes with our children's dreams, especially when they have SMA.
I remember when I began reading about SMA and other people's experiences, I came upon the FSMA forum. Someone asked, what do you tell your child about SMA? And someone responded that you have to be honest but not to give too much details about the disease. That it is important to give your children hope for the future. And so, when Jojo talks about what he's going to be when he's a grown-up, I smile and I encourage him. Never mind that inside, my heart is breaking. But then, que sera, sera.
To get back to the weekend...Jojo wanted to make something, so he got on the Nick Jr. website and found a tabletop Christmas tree to make. Here he is painting the tree.
On Sunday, there was a little Christmas parade in front of our house, so we took Jojo to the end of our driveway to watch. He got some candies and therefore, he spent a big part of the afternoon tasting them. Then Nana came to play cars with him.
Today, Jojo's Dad had a very good day. Brady bought a new shotgun as a Christmas gift from me (well, at least I contributed to the purchase) and he killed a deer during his afternoon hunt.
Jojo gave his Dad a big thumb's up.
Nice deer!!!! Jojo I love your coat (very cool) Sounds like you guys have been busy, did you guys get more snow? Sky has never asked me about why or what he has, Ill have to dross that bridge when it comes. I hope you all have a GREAT week lots of hugs Sheila and Sky
ReplyDeleteJojo you are doing a great job painting, looks like you are doing lots of fun things. Have a wonderful week.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for sharing the posts with Josephs arm slings. Gives me some good ideas on how to make Junior's work better for him. Do you mind sharing where you got the slings, those are really nice and look like they have some padding.
